On September 24, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Central States Region hosted its annual Design Awards ceremony, awarding the Olathe Public Library’s Indian Creek Branch an Honor Award, the highest distinction given. Jurors noted:
The conversion of this big box retail into a public library was as stunning as it was resourceful.
The story of transformation the project told was clever and exposes that the impending theoretical death of retail can be instructive for our civic leaders and should serve as a reminder for us all that opportunity is always present.
Congratulations to the City of Olathe, our library programming partner Group 4, McCownGordon Construction, and the Gould Evans design team!
