Gould Evans Principal Melissa Farling recently spoke on the “Stress & Restoration in Corrections” panel at the 2018 Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture (ANFA) conference which focused on “Shared Behavioral Outcomes”.
With over 2 million people incarcerated in the US, the panel highlighted priority research agenda items such as solitary confinement, mental health, lighting, environmental sources of stress and lack of normal coping strategies. The goal of the panel was to emphasize the need for collaborative research in these areas to improve conditions and outcomes.
