We’re proud to promote these leaders who work across disciplines, providing a breadth of perspective and new possibilities for our culture, clients, and communities. Congratulations to Steve Brezovec, Heather Gentili, Teresa Jan, Whitney Lang, Betsy Lynch, Julie Nelson Meers, and Liz Thelen-Torres.

Steve Brezovec, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

ARCHITECT | SAN FRANCISCO

Steve leads teams to create enriching spaces and flourishing community. He's passionate about his home state of California and brings its landscape and spirit of discovery into every aspect of our practice, including housing crisis solutions, connections to nature, and building efficiency and performance. He enjoys cycling in Berkeley and Oakland past the dozen affordable housing renovation projects he led in the previous decade.

"If we invest in each team member's passions and talents, we can transform their most resonant motivation into an electric contribution."

Heather Gentili

DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES | CORPORATE

Heather has redefined our culture through her relentless pursuit of a people-centered workplace. With a deep sense of empathy, her work prioritizes the individual and the interpersonal, cross-studio engagement, and a tenacious pursuit of equity. She believes that people make our work meaningful and moves beyond policy and compliance to foster creative environments that inspire and elevate our work.

“I'm fascinated by what’s possible when a team is aligned, engaged, and energized. Our shared experiences—in a place where we can grow and express our values and talents—bring us together to do amazing work.”

Teresa Jan, AIA, LEED AP, WELL AP

ARCHITECT | SAN FRANCISCO

Teresa approaches each project with curiosity and a deep care for community, nature, and their existing—and potential—connections. She is a leader on regenerative design, embodied biophilia, health and wellness, and integrated building technologies. She's active within AIA San Francisco's Committee on the Environment (COTE) and speaks frequently on the power of induction cooking as a culinary vehicle toward a decarbonized future.

“By truly listening to the collective voices of community and the sounds of the environment—and removing my own ego and bias—I hope to illuminate kindness, justice, humanity, and resilience.”

Whitney Lang, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

ARCHITECT | LAWRENCE

Whitney is a skilled leader and project manager, who excels at bringing together a wide range of perspectives to artfully solve design problems. She’s comfortable in the messiness and exploration of the early design stages but excels at building consensus and clarity as projects move forward. She brings a deep sense of empathy and compassion to her work, and enjoys building partnerships with community organizations in her hometown of Lawrence, Kansas.

“We've been gifted with a moment in history that demands process iteration. With humble ears, I want to hear more people's perspectives and help provide new opportunities for shared experience, stability, and joy."

Betsy Lynch, AIA, LEED AP

ARCHITECT | phoenix

Betsy confidently leads projects at all scales, ranging from large multi-phase new buildings to small tenant improvements for long-term clients. She fosters an inclusive design process that spans disciplines and tenure, guiding each team toward the most holistic design solution. Passionate about her community, Betsy currently serves as the Board President of AIA Arizona and is a co-founder of the Phoenix chapter of the Carbon Leadership Forum.

“I believe it will take a village to address the climate crisis, which is why I'm passionate about building inclusive partnerships with educators, municipal leadership, policy makers, designers, construction firms, and community advocates.”

Julie Nelson Meers

DIRECTOR OF STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT | KANSAS CITY

Julie is a collaborative and strategic leader. She is a champion of culture and engagement who actively links people and ideas—and encourages others to do the same—in pursuit of opportunities to support each client’s vision, challenges, and needs. Enthusiastic, candid, and transparent, she is a forward thinker who challenges assumptions and encourages fresh approaches to strengthen our firm’s delivery of successful design.

“I have a long-standing appreciation of design and the powerful way it affects, well, everything. I’m deeply interested in shaping our firm in ways that support the success of our clients, partners, and communities."

Liz Thelen-Torres

DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT | SAN FRANCISCO

Liz helps us capitalize on opportunities to grow and diversify our practice while staying true to our passion for meaningful work. Her dual background in architecture and liberal arts helps her shape our work into narrative, presented across mediums to tell each project’s unique story. Focused on our California presence, she's a versatile leader equally comfortable managing an urban freeway renewal proposal or small-scale community event.

“I’m fascinated by the power of design to influence behavior and interactions, and I love revealing the multitude of ways that it operates—sometimes almost imperceptibly—through the work I do.”

We're also excited to announce Vice President and Senior Associate promotions. Along with our new Associate Principals, each of these individuals has made significant contributions to the firm. We look forward to their leadership in creating an inclusive culture and impactful, enduring work.
